Austin nonprofit partners with local shelter to host job fair for the homeless

AUSTIN, Texas (June.1, 201­9)  ––  A Helping Hand, a non-profit organization, will be hosting its first job fair on Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Front Steps shelter. The organization is dedicated to introducing homeless women and men to local companies hiring for part-time and full-time positions.

The job fair features two sessions that will be open and free to the public. The grooming session will be held in the main facility from 9 a.m. to noon. The session will provide individuals with the opportunity to get free haircuts, professional clothing and makeovers. Following the grooming session, in the main ballroom, job-seekers will have the opportunity to network with over 20 employers. Employers will be set up to take resumes, cover letters and conduct on-site interviews. Employers are seeking to fill positions in hospitality, customer service, retail, manufacturing and a range of other industries.

The job fair will launch an effort to bring jobs and career opportunities to  homeless women and men facing barriers to employment.
